Description
Necklace Heishi Bear. I have three of these all in different shades of pin shell. Handmade on Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico. This necklace measures about 8″ long and the bear is turquoise with a sterling silver clasp. There a very unique way they make these. These make great presents for men and women. Most of them made by my artists are one -of- a- kind. These are unisex and are fun to collect from this area. Photos are in “variations”
Heishe or heishi are small disc- or tube-shaped beads made of organic shells or ground and polished stones. They come from the Kewa Pueblo people of New Mexico, before the use of metals in jewelry by that people. The name is the word for shell bead in the Eastern Keresan language of the Santo Domingo Indians.
